Oncology Treatment Options

The Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital offers a wide range of special programs for nearly all types of cancer, including brain & spinal, breast, lung, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecological, hematologic, head & neck and lung.

Specialty services and programs offered at the Cancer Center include:

Chemotherapy
Fox Chase medical oncologists at Temple work with other specialists to create personalized treatment plans that include chemotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted/immunotherapy. The hospital’s Infusion Center provides convenient outpatient chemotherapy and other services.

Radiation Oncology
Temple Radiation Oncology offers state-of-the-art technology, innovative research and some of the most experienced doctors in the region. A regular orientation is held for new patients so they can learn what to expect during their treatment.

Surgical Oncology
Surgical oncologists provide advanced surgical options for the removal of cancerous tumors. Many surgeries performed at Temple are minimally invasive, including robotic-assisted surgery and laparoscopic surgery.

Hematology
Hematologists diagnose and treat the full range of blood disorders and diseases.

Radiology
Temple offers many advanced imaging services to diagnose, stage and monitor tumors. These include ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET-CT, X-ray/Fluoroscopy and digital mammography. Specialty areas of Radiology include Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

Gynecologic Oncology
Gynecologic oncologists provide comprehensive care for women who have been diagnosed with cancer of the reproductive organs – the cervix, ovaries, uterus, tubes, vagina and vulva.

Clinical Trials and Research
Patients have access to clinical trials at both Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital. This offers them the chance to receive innovative treatments that are not offered at most hospitals.

Bone Marrow Transplant
The Fox Chase-Temple University Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program is located on the campus of Jeanes Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia. This nationally respected program offers a variety of bone marrow and peripheralblood stem-cell transplantation.

Palliative Care
Temple Palliative Care provides patients with relief from the symptoms, pain and stress of a serious illness – whatever the diagnosis. Palliative care services are available to patients at any stage of illness and can be provided together with curative treatment.

Rehabilitation Services
Temple offers the full range of rehabilitation services for patients with musculoskeletal issues during or after cancer treatment. Services include speech, physical and occupational therapy and complete decongestive therapy for controlling lymphedema.
