Support Services
Patients and their families can take advantage of a wide range of support and educational programs. Support groups for patients, families and caregivers, as well as a patient resource room with Internet access, are available. Oncology Social Workers and a Patient Navigator are here to locate financial, transportation and medically-related resources for patients, and to counsel patients and families throughout their cancer experience. The Cancer Center team strongly encourages family involvement during the course of treatment.
Financial Counseling
An onsite financial counselor is available to assist with your concerns about payment for services. The counselor will work with you to answer questions about your insurance before your first visit so that you will know how much of the cost, if any, you will need to pay. He or she will also be able to help you with referral issues or changes in insurance coverage.
Support Groups
Prostate Cancer
"MAN TO MAN," an American Cancer Society Program, meets on the 4th Thursday of every month from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, in Classroom C. Robert White, MSW, is the facilitator. To register to attend, please call 215-707-7569.
Breast Cancer
"Queens of Survival" meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 1:30 pm. Jeanne Chavious, MSW, is the facilitator. To register to attend, please call 215-707-8039.
Latino Cancer
This Spanish language group for all cancer diagnoses meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the Cancer Center conference room at 1:30 pm. May Mackenzie, MSW, is the facilitator. To register to attend, please call 215-707-2575.
Brain Tumors
Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm in Classroom C. June Ro, RN, and Jeanne Chavious, MSW, are the faciltators. To register to attend, please call 215-707-8039.
Lung Cancer
This group provides support and information for lung cancer survivors and their caregivers. It meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 1:00pm - 2:30 pm and is sponsored by VITAS Hospice. Robert White, MSW, is the facilitator. To register to attend, please call 215-707-8039.
Head & Neck/Esophageal Cancer

Radiation Oncology Orientation
Orientation and tour of the Radiation Oncology Department for patients and family members. We will explain the process, what to expect and answer questions about radiation therapy. Sessions will be held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month in the Radiation Oncology department lobby (Zone D, lower level). Bob Beecher, RT, MBA, and Jeanne Chavious, MSW are the facilitators. Look Good, Feel Better
Hair and skin care for women on treatment. Jeanne Chavious, MSW, and Lola Conwell, Cosmetologist, are the facilitators. This group meets quarterly. To register to attend, please call 215-707-8039.
Wellness Community Outreach Programs
Coping skills for patients will all diagnoses and their caregivers. The groups are conducted by Wellness Community staff and meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm in the Cancer Center conference room.
