Temple University Hospital Accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons

The Temple Cancer Center has been awarded Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons – a consortium of 42 national professional organizations that reflect the full spectrum of cancer care.

To earn accreditation, the Temple Cancer Center successfully completed an on-site CoC review that assessed its compliance with 36 standards, including assurance that patients are afforded access to a full range of diagnostic and treatment services. The Cancer Center earned commendations in seven areas: quality improvement, outreach programs for prevention and early detection, patient enrollment in clinical trials, Cancer Registry staff education, patient-outcome analysis and reporting, timely patient case abstracting, and timely and accurate data submission to the national registry.

"By earning this significant recognition, the Temple Cancer Center joins Temple University Hospital's many other clinical programs in meeting high standards of excellence in patient-care," said Sandra L. Gomberg, RN, MSN, President & Chief Executive Officer of Temple University Hospital.
